Kings of Cabernet Combine to host Australian Cabernet Symposium

Australian Cabernet Sauvignon producers, growers, suppliers, students, marketers, decision makers and aficionados can now secure tickets to Australia’s only Cabernet conference, the Australian Cabernet Symposium (ACS), which returns on Thursday 1 and Friday 2 February 2024.

For the first time, delegates can attend the triannual event from either Coonawarra or Margaret River, with earlybird tickets available until 7 December via www.australiancabernetsymposium.com.

Traditionally hosted by Coonawarra Grape and Wine Incorporated (CGWI) in South Australia’s Coonawarra Wine Region, the 2024 event is being presented in association with Wines of Western Australia (WoWA) and sees the joining of forces of Australia’s premier Cabernet Sauvignon producing regions, Coonawarra and Margaret River.

ACS Committee Chair Dr Catherine Kidman said that the 2024 event will be the biggest Australian Cabernet Symposium ever produced.

“We are delighted to be working with our WA colleagues to bring to life the most comprehensive programme to date”.

Led by acclaimed journalist, drinks writer and author Katie Spain as emcee, the 2024 ACS will showcase a stellar line-up of Australian and international experts who are all passionate about the world of Cabernet Sauvignon.

“They include Phil Brodie, Senior Winemaker at Te Mata in Hawke’s Bay, famous for crafting one of New Zealand’s most revered reds, Coleraine; Vanya Cullen who will explore her insights behind zero carbon vineyards at Cullen in Margaret River; and Professor Stephen Tyerman from the University of Adelaide who will share his berry shrivel breathalyser vineyard research” Dr Kidman said.

“Masterclasses will explore clonal trials from Margaret River, as well as innovative Cabernets from the Napa Valley, Coonawarra and Margaret River.  We look forward to revealing our full programme in the coming weeks” Kidman added.

Focusing on the 2024 theme Supporting Cabernet Sauvignon into the Future, the symposium will bring attendees up to speed with the latest Cabernet developments occurring in the fields of wine research, viticulture, winemaking and marketing both in Australia and overseas, and provides an unparalleled opportunity to network with the Australian Cabernet community.

“On day one, presentations and masterclasses will be simulcast live to and from the ACS hub at Parker Coonawarra Estate and at the Margaret River HEART satellite venue for Western Australian attendees, followed by dinners in both states.”

“Day two, occurring in Coonawarra only, gives attendees the opportunity to see first-hand the latest in viticultural and winemaking innovations out in the field” Dr. Kidman said.

The ACS would like to acknowledge the support of Wine Australia’s Regional Program, Limestone Coast Grape & Wine Council Inc and the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (WA) and our sponsors Elders, Nutrien Ag Solutions and Wattle Range Council; who without their generous support the ACS would not be happening.

Opportunities are still available for businesses and brands to align themselves with the 2024 ACS and reach up to 280 passionate Cabernet producers, service providers, thought leaders, growers, winemakers and marketers in Coonawarra and Margaret River through Bronze, Silver and Gold sponsorship partnerships.
