Scheduled to take place in August, the national wine tasting event attracts close to 2,500 wine enthusiasts across 5 major cities in Australia.
Due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation and uncertainties surrounding this pandemic, including current interstate travel restrictions and bans on mass gatherings, the 2020 Coonawarra Cellar Door in the City – Wine Tasting Roadshow event, that was to be held in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth, has been cancelled.
“The roadshow is a fabulous platform for our wine producers, both large and small, to showcase their wines and to meet their consumers – many of whom are avid Coonawarra wine followers and have attended these events year upon year. It is also a fabulous opportunity to promote our region as a destination for interstate and intrastate visitors.” Coonawarra Events and Marketing Officer, Heidi Eldridge said.
Coonawarra Vignerons Executive Officer, Olivia James, acknowledged that whilst there might be some disappointment for consumers, she hoped that there would be a level of understanding for the situation at hand. “This decision has not been taken lightly, however in the interest of safety and wellbeing of our staff, wine producers and attendees, Coonawarra is committed to providing a safe environment for all.” said Olivia James, Coonawarra Vignerons executive Officer.
Whilst venues had been secured for the 2020 August events, dates had not yet been released to the public.
Coonawarra Vignerons are fully committed to delivering these events in 2021.
