The 36° South Coonawarra Vignerons Cup continues to appeal as the region kicks off 2020 with its largest single event selling out in record time yet again. Tim Bailey, Cup Committee Chair is set to start the day with the official welcome and is pleased to be presenting to a sold-out marquee. “The Cup Committee are preparing to entertain 728 guests this Thursday at Penola Racecourse and even the weather has come to the party with a forecasted high of 23°C.” said Tim Bailey.
The 36° South Coonawarra Vignerons Cup is without doubt one of the State’s best country race meets in the picturesque surrounds of the Penola Racecourse. “As the crowd gathers to watch the action trackside with the 36° South Coonawarra Vignerons Cup, the place you want to be is in the Coonawarra Vignerons Marquee.” said Olivia James, Executive Officer. The Coonawarra Vignerons Marquee has all the ingredients for an outstanding day on the track. The marquee offers its guests with the chance to sample the region’s best food, including the return of our presenting partner 36° South scotch fillet beef pairing with Coonawarra’s world class wines. Where else in the world can you sit with 25 wine label identities, alongside the growers of the Coonawarra wine region. There’s so much history in this marquee.
Last year the individual contribution of two new Patrons was celebrated and this year, all Patrons will be joining us and welcoming guests as they arrive from 9:30am. There will be an Official Launch and toast to a wine tourism funded project. “This is a significant milestone for the region that has developed an itinerary planning tool and website.” said Toni Duka, Mixed Dozen Project Manager.
There will be no shortage of laughs, with Merrick Watts joining us to MC the day. Merrick and his Grapes of Mirth team will be staying on to present Comedy and Wine in Coonawarra on Saturday 18 January 2020 at the Penola Racecourse. The Coonawarra Vignerons couldn’t be more excited to see this event become a permanent annual feature on the calendar of events for Penola Coonawarra with 12 producers presenting their wines this Saturday.
