Zema Estate is a family-owned winery with deep roots in Coonawarra and a proud Italian heritage. For over four decades, the Zema family has built a reputation for producing premium-quality wines that reflect the distinctive character of Coonawarra, with a particular focus on Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz.
Estate-grown fruit, hand pruning, careful vineyard management and traditional winemaking practices are at the heart of Zema Estate’s philosophy. Combined with meticulous attention to detail and extended bottle ageing, this approach produces wines renowned for their consistency, quality and longevity.
Overlooking the estate’s picturesque vineyards, Zema Estate’s welcoming Cellar Door offers an authentic Coonawarra experience. Visitors can enjoy complimentary tastings of current-release wines, relax with a gourmet platter or browse a selection of gifts and local produce, including the much-loved Mrs Zema’s homemade chilli paste and olive oil.
Zema Estate is also a proud participant in the Coonawarra Walking Trail, a scenic 5km circuit connecting six of the region’s cellar doors. Visitors can explore Coonawarra’s famous vineyards on foot, enjoy wine tastings along the way and experience the warm hospitality of the region at their own pace. The trail is family and dog friendly, making it a wonderful way to discover Coonawarra.
For those looking to delve a little deeper, Zema Estate offers private winery tours and premium wine tasting experiences. These personalised experiences provide an opportunity to explore the winery, discover the Zema family’s rich history and taste carefully selected wines, including rare museum releases. Private experiences are available by prior booking, subject to availability.
Visitors travelling through the Limestone Coast in an electric vehicle can also take advantage of complimentary EV charging at the Cellar Door, with a 22kW AC charger available while they enjoy a tasting, gourmet platter or explore the Walking Trail.
