The Coonawarra Vignerons are bringing their highly regarded Coonawarra Tutorial: Digging Deeper than the Dirt to Adelaide and Brisbane this June, continuing the momentum of last year’s successful trade and media masterclasses in Melbourne and Sydney.

Famous for its terra rossa soils and world-class Cabernet Sauvignon, it has been 131 years since Coonawarra’s first vintage in 1895. The Coonawarra Tutorial: Digging Deeper than the Dirt aims to showcase the past, present and future of this remarkable wine region – going beyond the soil to explore viticulture, evolving styles, and the enduring ageability of Coonawarra wines.
The upcoming instalment of the tutorials will take place in Adelaide (Wednesday 3 June) and Brisbane (Wednesday 10 June), bringing together leading sommeliers, wine trade, and media for an engaging and educational tasting experience.
A select group of representatives will be given the opportunity to hear Panel members Dan Redman (Redman Wines), Matilda Innes (Ottelia), Maddie LeMire (Balnaves of Coonawarra) and Ben Harris (Wynns Coonawarra Estate), present a range of wines dating back to the 1960s with discussion facilitated by Wine Educator, Sarah Andrew (DipWSET Honours).
The region boasts a diverse representation of family-owned brands alongside larger corporations and the tutorial will explore wines from both. With a population of just 135 people, Coonawarra’s strength lies in community spirit, collaboration, innovation, and a shared vision to keep Coonawarra wines relevant for future generations.

Dan Redman, fourth-generation winemaker and President of Coonawarra Vignerons notes, “It’s time to relook at the wines from the region, recognising the 131-year-old past but embracing the subtle changes that are being made across the region to make Coonawarra more relevant than ever.”
There are limited places available for both the Adelaide and Brisbane, for those interested in attending please get in touch with Emma Weir via email: emma@mastermindconsulting.com.au.
The tutorials are made possible with funding and support from the South Australian Government through the Department of Primary Industries and Regions.
