Coonawarra – COVID19 Update

COVID-19 may be causing chaos, but the wine is still flowing in Coonawarra.

In response to Australian Federal Government announcements on 22 March 2020, trading has changed significantly for many regional businesses, including our own in Coonawarra.

Due to the restrictions placed on licensed venues, prohibiting public access, Coonawarra Cellar Doors are no longer able to host in-house tastings or gatherings. Wine sales for consumption OFF premises is permitted.  South Australian Wine Industry Association, has advised that the public are allowed to enter cellar door premises to purchase the producer’s product, pick up an order and then leave.  Cellar Doors, therefore, are operating like bottle shops enabling visitors to purchase and collect with limited direct contact.

As a result of these most recent restrictions, handed down by the Federal and South Australian Government, we are seeing the closure of cellar doors and tasting rooms throughout the region, to curb the spread of coronavirus.

We can advise that the following Cellar Doors are closed:

  • Balnaves of Coonawarra closed from Sunday 22 March until further notice
  • Bellwether Wines closed from Sunday 22 March until further notice
  • Bowen Estate closed until further notice
