October marks the commencement of Coonawarra Cabernet Celebrations in the Coonawarra Wine Region, with plenty of activities on offer for locals and visitors to celebrate, educate and activate their senses.
On Friday 4th October all the action will be on the greens, when the who’s who of Coonawarra tee off at the Coonawarra Golf Day at the Penola Golf Course. Added to the October program in 2018, the Coonawarra Golf Day returns as a feature event in the Coonawarra Cabernet Celebrations calendar, kicking off the first of four weekends of events.
Coonawarra Vignerons Marketing and Events Officer is excited at the return of the event with the added support of a presenting partner, “This year we are thrilled to have Hit 96.1 and 963 Triple M joining us as our presenting partner. Hit 96.1’s Mitchell and Michael are set to make an appearance and will welcome the respective teams as they step up to the first hole of the day.”
Olivia James, Executive Officer of Coonawarra Vignerons said there had been an increase in teams signing up to participate in the Golf Day compared to the 2018 event “Last year’s event saw 9 teams take to the green. This year we have 12 teams registered and there is still time for other keen golfers to register”.
“Teams of four are invited to come along and enjoy a great day out on the greens, in a day of social, but competitive golf, at the picturesque Penola Golf Course.” Ms James said. Teams will be vying for a chance to wear the coveted perpetual ‘Red Jackets’, along with other prizes throughout the day.
The Ambrose event is open to individual players and teams of 4, and all interested golfers, be it novice or pro are encouraged to take part. For those still wanting to register, registrations are being accepted until Wednesday 2nd October via the Coonawarra.org website. Team entries $280 plus booking fee, including lunch and more.
The event starts at 10:30am, with participants encouraged to be at the Penola Golf Course by 10am.
An extensive array of events and special tastings showcasing and celebrating Coonawarra’s signature red wine: Cabernet Sauvignon, will be taking place throughout the month of October.
For those staying on over the weekend, and all weekends throughout October a shuttle bus (hop on, hop off) will be operating from Penola, travelling the Coonawarra Strip to help visitors travel between wineries affordably at $10pp per day, call 1800 861 190 to pre book.
