Sid Kidman planted the first vines on his family property in 1971 and has been managing the vineyard ever since. The vineyards form part of the famous Coonawarra district, which is located in the south east corner of South Australia. The vineyard has grown to 17 hectares. The vines are hand pruned which enhances the probability of low yields, enabling minimum interference in vine management.
The Cellar Door is housed in the old stables on the Kidman property – Limestone Ridge. The stables were built in 1859 and are a great link with the district’s history. The wines produced are Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Riesling, and Sauvignon Blanc.
The company is now run by Suzie and Sid Kidman, and their son, George. He becomes the fourth generation of the Kidman family to farm at Limestone Ridge.
